Andrew is from St. Aidan’s parish, Little Chalfont, and spent part of his university vacation helping the poor and disabled cared for in the various centers in Kingston. He found it a great experience and had no wish to leave. This does not mean that he found it particularly easy. Whilst he was there during the Olympic Games there were no less than twenty murders in down-town Kingston, but this did not deter him from his work with those in desperate need in the five residential centers run by Father Ho Lung and the Missionaries of the Poor Brothers. Lay volunteer helpers are always welcome and find it, like Andrew, a wonderful and memorable experience. Several of the MoPSA committee have spent time working with the poor and destitute in Kingston, Jamaica and have seen, first hand, the needs and the committed and unselfish work of the Brothers in trying to help the poorest of the poor regardless of their religion. Our Chairman, Fr Ken, goes each year to spend a few weeks working with the Brothers and keeping up to date with their requirements. This is just one of the many little children who rely on the Missionaries of the Poor for everything. Its because of your generosity that we're able to send money to the Missionaries of the Poor so they can feed and care for little boys like this one. The picture to the left shows one of the MoPSA committee members helping to clean one of the sick children. All the pictures on this page were taken during April 2002 when 5 of the MoPSA committee visited the Missionaries of the Poor in Kingston, Jamaica.
